You know how it is; one of those days driving home from work The same twenty-five miles that had been traveled going to and returning from work for many years on the Capital Beltway in Northern Virginia.
But this day I could not keep my eyes open. Whatever I tried did not work. As the trip progressed it was apparent my efforts would be to no avail.
Suddenly I felt a thump on the top of my head which resembled the sound that an empty cardboard tube from the center of a roll of paper towels makes when it is struck against something. But there was no space between my head and the roof of the car, and there was certainly no one else in the car with me.
The strangeness of the event woke me totally for the rest of the journey as I pondered how strange it all seemed.
When I reached the town where I lived and stopped for a traffic light, I happened to turn and glance into the car which had stopped beside me in the next lane. It was a small car but to my surprise, the driver was amazingly large. My first thought was how he could possibly get in and out. At that moment he turned to me, smiled and waved his hand.
Of course I waved back, but his size, smile and wave held much more meaning than I could ever explain.
Thank you, Lord. Thank you, guardian angel.
