Your bravery was rooted in Christ.  He was your captain as you shielded fellow Christians from persecution.  Your courage to recognize Christ came from you conviction that his truth would guide your actions no matter the personal cost.

Lord God, I am confident that you hear the requests of your friends in heaven, and so I ask that you strengthen me as you did Sebastian, so I may work for justice and receive the gift of fortitude and courage to proclaim by example and deed that you are Lord of life.  This I ask through Jesus Christ.  Amen.
